They are compatible with in-flight adapters so you can plug them right into the plane! They work with or without batteries, but the nice canceling requires the batteries. And this is as good a deal as you are going to get! Big Box stores have these listed at 49.99. Why the low price? These are damaged box (only) goods. You can see in the photo that the box looks rough. Since I have multiples of this item, here is a general description.
